Our Bikes!

The keyword is Cross-Training. We've decided that we should x-train to make our workouts more interesting. And bearable. Not to mentioned influences from cyclist like Poo-Foo and other triathlon enthusiasts that have besotted the mind of my significant other. She sort of cottoned to the fact that cycling is stylo-mylo and a sport to be seen doing. Of course, healthy too.

As in other sports, sometimes the accessorizing is much more fun than actually riding the bikes (hehee) :-p

Maiden ride is from L&T (bike shop at Tampines Str43) to Compas Green. Mine was fraught with much difficulty as the chain was too long (rectified).

D Run (27 NOV 07)

Ran some 4km on the usual "Vicom Route" before work today. Ran strapped with Nike HRM (Heart Rate Monitor) and TraxC5 plus Sting's Desert Rose streaming into my consciousness via the iPod Nano.

Using the formula, HRmax = 217 − (0.85 * age), mine would be 181.3 (Maximum Heart Rate). Am aware that there are variations to this formula but decided on this one because, well, it is there.

As a beginner (rather old and late beginner) , ran mostly 70% of my HRM and felt comfortable. Last few hundred metres upped the beat to 90% of the HRM and pushed 10% above HRM for the last 200m. It hurts but only for a while and quite surprisingly, I took shorter time to recover. Yay! Am not sure what all these means but may consider taking a stress test to check out the exact HRmax.

OSIM Triathlon

Mummy went for the OSIM Triathlon today. Despite not training well and sub-optimal ENT Mummy decided to go ahead with the relay in the OSIM Triathlon. The Pris-Girls, comprising Poo-Foo (cycle) and Tian Lee (swim) and Mummy (run) completed the relay within a reasonable time ( I gotta check with them exactly what that means). She started running (5km) quite late, around 12pm but fortunately the weather was kind and the sun was shy, hiding among some pregnant clouds throughout the morning.

Will post a pic of the "medal" soon.
